| Detailed Description |
| How to meet the needs of all of my students? This is a question that frequently crosses the minds of teachers. Due to new mandates teachers in Indiana are required to provide their students with an appropriately challenging curriculum through differentiated strategies. Differentiation does not always look the same. Teaching styles, student learning patterns, and personalities influence the types of strategies that teachers use in the classroom. The how-to focus of this workshop allows participants the opportunity to develop skills for differentiating instruction. Differentiation is critical to meeting the needs of all children and by responding to readiness levels, interests, and learning preferences teachers can involve students in relevant, challenging, and engaging tasks. Specific strategies including, but not limited to, curriculum compacting, anchoring activities, Think Tac Toe options, jigsaw, and tiered lessons will be discussed. Classroom management and behavioral expectations in the differentiated classroom will also be explored. This class is for experienced and novice teachers, who teach in inclusive or self-contained classrooms. Participants will leave with a wide variety of strategies and activities that can be used immediately. Presenter: Dr. Rebecca Mann is the Co-Director of the Gifted Education Resource Institute and Assistant Professor at Purdue University West Lafayette November 19 (K-6 teachers, administrators, coaches) and/or November 20 (7-12 teachers, administrators, coaches). 8:30AM-3:00PM (registration begins at 8:15AM). Location: NWIESC, Highland. $125 NWIESC Members; $225 Non-NWIESC Members (includes meals & materials); $200 if you choose to attend both days NWIESC Members; $300 Non-Members; 3 CRUs per day (or 6 PGPs per day).
